Hancock Park is one of L.A.’s oldest and grandest residential areas dating back to the turn of the 20th century. In fact, a few of its homes were built in the late 1800’s and were originally sited elsewhere, then later moved to Hancock Park in pieces and reassembled. “HP,” as it’s often called, is one-part Homeowners Association and one part City of Los Angeles. Some residents prefer the design restrictions offered by the Association, which endeavors to keep the neighborhood’s glorious architecture authentic. Offerings in HP include the Wilshire Country Club, the gated community of Fremont Place, and the shopping and dining mecca, Larchmont Village.
